Much Wenlock Neighbourhood Plan

Much Wenlock Neighbourhood Plan

The Much Wenlock Neighbourhood Plan sets out the community’s aspirations for the town and parish. It is a statutory document, which is used to guide and shape development and help determine planning applications.

In March 2023 the Town Council resolved to review the existing Much Wenlock Neighbourhood Plan (2013 – 2026) to bring it up to date.  The new Plan, currently in draft form, will cover the period 2024 – 2038.  The views of the community are extremely important in helping to shape the Plan and there are several opportunities for engagement.  Please see below for details.

A little over fifteen months since the public launch of the Review process in March 2024, Shropshire Council has considered the draft which the Town Council submitted in May. Happily, they have confirmed that it is legally compliant

and it can now proceed to “Regulation 16” public consultation. This opened on 13th June and will run until Friday 25th July. We encourage you to take part by either using the online link (see below), or by inspecting the documents available at the Library in the Corn Exchange, High Street, Much Wenlock.

Following review, and maybe further recommendations, by a Planning Examiner there will be a local referendum to ask parishioners to vote on whether the Plan should be formally adopted by Shropshire Council. This will determine whether its policies should be used to determine planning applications in Much Wenlock parish.

The online consultation may be found here: www.shropshire.gov.uk/get-involved/much-wenlock-neighbourhood-plan-review/
