Gaskell Recreation Ground – Perimeter Path

GASKELL RECREATION GROUND

This project will create a safe and fun environment for the people of Much Wenlock at the Gaskell Recreation Ground.  This project will develop a safe and an appropriate environment for people to celebrate, interact, keep fit, enjoy the great outdoors and come together as a community.

It is part funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development

We are delighted that the new path around the Gaskell Recreation Ground has been completed.  The path connects with the Linden Walk and the new gate through from the school site, providing a hard-surfaced route to the Bowling Club and around the perimeter of the ground. This will be a particular benefit in wet weather. The path is 2 metres wide along most of its route and is suitable for use by mobility scooters and wheelchairs, as well as pedestrians. The path is already proving popular with walkers, joggers, those with pushchairs and small children on scooters and bicycles.  An official opening will be arranged later in the year.

The new path, fencing and gate have been funded by contributions from a LEADER grant, provided by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, the Town Council, the Much Wenlock Forester Charitable Trust and William Brookes School.  Thank you to all of the funders and those who have been involved with the project.
